When Swimming Trunks Turn into Swimsuits

During the winter holidays, children living in shelters made the long trip to Jurmala Water Park in Latvia. Do you know a single child who doesn’t like to frolic about in a water park, ride cool and exciting water slides and jump from springboards?

Ele (7) was so proud that she could go on the long trip with the older children. She is now in the first grade and at last one of those who are allowed to go on longer trips. In Jurmala, Ele was a bit afraid of the long waterslides, but when she got home, she was bragging to everyone that she would have fearlessly ridden even the steepest of slides if her carers had let her.

Kati (12) was talking about her experiences. She went to ride a waterslide that was completely covered. She was a bit frightened, so slowed herself down using her feet – and stopped in the middle of the ride! But then she was afraid that the next person might hit her, so she quickly started pushing herself forward with her feet to get out of the slide in time. And she did!

Risto (17) is into extremes, so he had a go at all the attractions and slides. Although the red and orange slides were “awesome!”, in the end he liked riding the swimming tubes most. And, what’s more, when racing down one slide his swimming trunks looked more like a swimsuit! On the way back we joked about that over and over again!

The children also enjoyed the sauna. But Riho (11) was afraid to go to one because, he said, it was too hot!

Throughout the day all that could be heard was the laughter and sounds of excited and happy children, who had a sparkle of joy in their eyes.
