Tartu Children’s Shelter
The Tartu Children’s Shelter is a shelter with a maximum capacity of twenty children. The shelter provides temporary support, help and protection for children ranging from 13 to 18 years of age, who are without parental care and are victims of violence or family conflicts and, if necessary, also to mothers with children. The shelter also accepts children who are left without parental care because their natural or foster parent has died, gone missing, has a serious illness, is not able to take care of children, is under preliminary criminal investigation, in prison or has abandoned the children. Also, the shelter provides assistance to children who have left home, the foster parent or a child care institution because of serious problems, such as poor living conditions, mistreatment, poor financial situation, conflicts with peers, psychological crisis, etc.
The Tartu Children’s Shelter signed a cooperation agreement with SEB Heategevusfond in December 2007. Read more at www.turvakodu.ee.
