The Christmas wish tree is made up of the dreams and wishes of children in shelters and substitute homes, sent to Santa Clause. To make sure that these do not just remain dreams, pick a gift from the Christmas tree and make a donation to the best of your ability.

Required documents

Applicants must fill in an application form with their personal data. Applicants are also required to submit the following:

  1. The applicant’s statement of purpose, in which they state their reasons for continuing or commencing their studies and explain how their studies would benefit from the scholarship.
     
  2. The statement of purpose must also include a description of the applicant’s financial situation (a free-form listing of income and benefits received) and an indication of which scholarship the application is for.
     
  3. The statement of purpose may be in Russian (or English), but must include an Estonian translation. The statement of purpose must be at least 1 A4 page in length (line spacing 1.5, Times New Roman, font size 11);
     
  4. A letter of recommendation from an educator, teacher, child protection worker, curator, or guardian that also includes a character reference of the applicant. The letter of recommendation must be at least 1 A4 page in length (line spacing 1.5, Times New Roman, font size 11);
     
  5. A certificate from the educational institution confirming that the applicant of the scholarship is enrolled in the school; transcript issued by the office of academic affairs of the school for the previous semester’s learner’s form (first-year students do not need to submit it for the fall semester);
     
  6. A document (for example from the local government) proving the applicant lives with a guardian or a foster family, at a shelter or a substitute home, is on continued care, or requires a support person service

NB! Documents must be drawn up in Estonian and sent from the applicant’s personal e-mail address by no later than 23 September 2019 to stipendium@heategevusfond.ee.

All the documents must be submitted together and the titles of the documents must match the content (the application document should be titled ‘Application’, same with the statement of purpose, etc.).

All scholarship applicants can submit their questions regarding application by writing to stipendium@heategevusfond.ee.

Parts of the statement of purpose:
• Introduction, where the applicant explains where they heard about the scholarship and briefly introduces themselves.
• Explanation – why do I need the scholarship?
• Looking ahead – what will be better and happen if I get this scholarship?
• Conclusion and the applicant’s contact information.

Documents must be drawn up in Estonian and sent from the applicant’s personal e-mail address by no later than 23 September to stipendium@heategevusfond.ee. All documents must be submitted together!

Personal counselling is offered to all applicants (for further information, send an e-mail to stipendium@heategevusfond.ee), which explains the issues concerning the scholarship if necessary.
