A gold bar for the sixth person to complete the race
“Align your toes behind the line. The one that finishes sixth will get a gold bar! Ready, steady, go!
These were the words that opened the children’s runs of the SEB Tallinn Marathon.
A hundred or so children from substitute and shelter homes competed until the victorious end among thousands of quick-footed runners.
The children ended their day of running by splashing and enjoying the relaxing waters in the pool of Kalev Spa. The older children rushed to dive through the pipes, while the smaller ones splashed with swimming rings under the watchful eye of the supervisors. Two-year-old Yelena who, to date, has been shy of water, was like a fish in water in the children’s pool and did not want to get out of the water at all. Now she is like someone completely different when taking a bath at home; there is no sign of fear of water!
The weather man, too, stuck to the agreement – it did not start to rain until the children were back in the coach and travelling home.
