Female Basketballers Play Water Polo with Children

For the fourth year in row, Tallink Spa & Conference Hotel marked its birthday with a party for children living in social welfare institutions: a birthday is a day of great joy and a perfect opportunity to share it with others. 150 children from nine shelters came to a water party organised in cooperation with the SEB Charity Fund. Female basketball players from NikeWoman, Eclex, Audentes SK/Noortekoondis and the Estonian national team volunteered for the event, and together with the children they participated in mattress races and water polo games and simply had fun in the pool.

Jaana, a carer from the Family Aid Centre, said: “The little ones were terrified by the blast of steam that hits you when you open the sauna door! The girls happily participated in all of the competitions and mattress races, while our smaller ones chased after balls and the boys played ball games.”

12-year-old Martin and his brother Janar, who will soon leave the shelter to go and live in a children’s home, were convinced that the ice-cream and candy floss served at the party were the second best thing in the world after swimming.
Kätlin (14), whose divorced parents do their utmost to avoid taking care of their child, was very cheerful after the party: “Swimming is cool, but I liked the strawberry smoothies in the pool and the steam sauna more! It was such a good day that bad things didn’t even enter my head.”

8-year-old Armin was into jumping onto the inflatable sharks, enjoying himself in the outdoor pool and eating and drinking.
Elina (15), Kaili (14) and Thea (16) all said: “We liked the spa so much – it made us feel so relaxed just sitting there enjoying life! And the sauna was relaxing, too. It was all cool!”
Tiina (14) added that there were only a few boys, but otherwise the party was great!

Little Tiit (6) went to the sauna and behaved like a real man, asking a carer: “And how long exactly are you planning to sit here?” The carer said he would sit there until he warmed up. Tiit noted: “Strange… I feel warm already!” The carer said that if Tiit liked, he could go out alone, but Tiit said: “No – I’ll wait until I warm up, too.”

Little Tanja (6) and Ele (7) were delighted by the jacuzzi – the water was so warm and they felt so safe and important there, drinking smoothies with their older friends.

The next day, 4-year-old Viktoria kept saying how she had been swimming and how she had played fish and asked if she could walk around with the swimming tube she was given as a present.
