A day in Jurmala Water Park

Children who live in safe houses went on a long trip to the Jurmala Water Park during their winter holidays. Have you ever heard of a child who doesn’t like splash around in a water park, go down cool and scary slides and jump off divingboards?

You could hear the laughter and chatter of children in the water park all day. All the attractions were tested. The children only have praise for the day on their way back: really cool, super good, so exciting… They all had something to say about the different slides and things they had done. They also spoke about the slides that their carers should visit to get a real taste of life…

There was a lively discussion about homes between shelter children and children who live in ‘real homes’, where shelter children said: “No, this is not a children’s home, this is our home where we live.” The children also talked about what a good mother is like. They found that a good mother looks after the children and cooks for them, and children from safe houses found that their carer is their mother, as she does all that – and she does it well.

All the children we saw that day were excited and happy with their eyes shining with joy.
