The Christmas wish tree is made up of the dreams and wishes of children in shelters and substitute homes, sent to Santa Clause. To make sure that these do not just remain dreams, pick a gift from the Christmas tree and make a donation to the best of your ability.

Creative therapy weekends for shelter children

Creative therapy weekends were held for kids from children’s shelters in Tallinn, Pärnu, Tartu and Ida-Viru County from February to April. The weekends were designed to teach the kids how to cope with their past experiences and the ‘emotional baggage’ they were left with from their home lives and parents. The children thought about their past and present. Art and fairy tale therapy was used, and the children did a variety of exercises – ‘thinking hikes’, ‘flying’ with their imaginations, learning how to resolve conflicts, role playing and more. After his weekend of therapy, 9-year old Mario said to his carer very simply and succinctly: “I really enjoyed all of that – I learnt how to love and care about people!”
